.I find honesty an exceptionally scarce commodity in this competitive dog-eat-dog world, irregardless of whether the relationship is platonic, familial or romantic. People are bemoaning everywhere of the lack of it; in the Sunday edition of The Star section of Dear Thelma, heart-wrenching life stories from friends and family alike as well as my own experiences during my formative years in high school. My early years in high school is the worst; it leaves bitter memories, so many that it almost completely overshadows the happier ones.
In hindsight, I see it as lessons to be learned: to never completely trust anyone, never be too nice that people take advantage of you and among a few others. I learned what not to do in a friendship which I'll admit, I did things I was not proud of. But back then, I was confused, fell into depression, suffered major self esteem issues and developed real, raw anger. The only way for me to let it all out was to write and listen to too many angry songs.
The pain is now gone but I developed a few things that I am trying so hard to change. I am not happy that I tend to run away from confrontations of any nature and always come to regret it; that I freeze up during social events thus giving people the impression that I am shy and timid but somehow bordering on arrogance. I hesitate to give my opinions and almost have a panic attack every time I am required to do some form of public speaking even if it is just in class.
Life is a one continuous round of lessons to experience and learn from; I proudly say I have a long way to go. My sister and
*him* taught me to see life in a more positive aspect and I cannot emphasize how grateful I am. I await the day in the future when I can look back, and be able to see the poetic beauty in the ugly and meaningful. I just have to survive life first.
And now, for some hauntingly beautiful photography! I need more visual stimuli, pronto!
